Osado
Within the province of Mendoza, in the central-western part of Argentina located near the Andes mountain range, the wine reality Osado becomes the protagonist of expressions with an international style that reflect the qualitative potential of the territory from which they descend: precisely the Uco Valley. The winemaking management of the winery is entrusted to Gustavo Bauza, who through a modern style intends to give voice to the character of the territory with its symbolic variety: Malbec. As mentioned, the vineyards of the Argentine winery Osado are located in the Uco Valley, a territory where the black grape variety Malbec reigns supreme. Here, the soils are predominantly sandy and of alluvial origin, rich in stony skeleton, while the altitudes reach 1,100 meters above sea level. The climate of the Uco Valley is sunny and quite dry, characterized by significant temperature excursions between day and night that favor a perfect aromatic and phenolic maturation of the grapes. The harvest is done by hand when the berries have reached the ideal degree of ripeness while in the winery a careful and meticulous winemaking is adopted. In this perspective, alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks while the subsequent maturation phase always occurs in steel or in French oak barrels, depending on the label in question. Therefore, the production of the Osado winery revolves around Malbec, a variety of French origin that has become the symbol of Argentine winemaking. This grape is offered both in the most classic forms and in the most original and innovative ones, such as Malbec Blanco, vinified in white without contact with the skins. A common characteristic of all the labels of the Osado estate is the distinct freshness and intense aromas derived from the very high altitudes at which the grapes grow, but also from the skillful and careful processing.
