Parovel - Vinja Barde
Parovel - Vinja Barde is a historic winery deeply rooted in the territory of Carso. The Parovel family has managed this agricultural reality since the late 19th century, first as an agriturismo for affluent Trieste families and then, starting in the 1970s, as a brilliant wine and oil production reality. We are located in Istria, particularly in Bagnoli di Rosandra, on the Italian border with Slovenia. The Rosandra stream, which flows at the edge of the village, gives its name to the entire valley, populated by woods and rocky promontories: the enchanting Val Rosandra.
The secret of the Vinja Barde winery lies in the strong bond with the territory, traditions, and the elements of stone and water, absolute protagonists of the place. An ancient legend tells of how the beautiful princess Rosandra, held captive by an evil wizard, was freed by a knight who, after killing her jailer, left promising the princess he would return soon. The knight never returned and the inconsolable princess was transformed into rock by a good fairy.good that she listened to the laments. Princess Rosandra now lives among the rocks that populate the valley, and from her tears, the stream originates.
Vinja Barde is the name of the oldest vineyard of the Parovel family, dating back to 1893, from which great wine expressions arise. The wines of the winery are the result of a deep relationship over the centuries between the Parovel family and the territory, with its predominant elements, such as water and stone, and its legends. All wines are born from indigenous grape varieties: Votovska, Malvasia, and Moscato Giallo among the whites; Refosco and Terrano among the reds. Each bottle of Vinja Barde encapsulates the essence of an ancient, fascinating, and mysterious territory and tells its story perfectly glass after glass.
