Pasetti

The Pasetti winery is an Abruzzo wine-growing reality that has been producing high-quality wines for several years, capable of faithfully expressing the beauty and richness of the Chieti territory. The story begins in the Bourbon era, when Silvestro Pasetti bought land in Francavilla from the Marquis Farina and planted vineyards there. The scourge of phylloxera and the war did not stop the activity, which was passed down for 4 generations. Today, it is Domenico, known as Mimmo, who takes care of the winery, along with his wife Laura and their 3 children.

The vineyards are spread over 70 hectares between Gran Sasso and the Monti della Laga, in the heart of the National Park. This area, located between Pescosansonesco and Capestrano, is characterized by strong temperature variations, constant wind, and heterogeneous soil, ranging from clayey-limestone compositions to formations rich in skeleton and clayey subsoil. Thanks to this particular terroir, Pasetti's expressions acquire an unmistakable aromatic character and a well-defined structure. Some hectares of vineyard are located at next to Capo d’Acqua, a large water basin where diving enthusiasts come from all over the world every year.

Mimmo confirms the desire to remain, with production, firmly linked to the territory: in fact, only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated, such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Pecorino, and Passerina. The winery also has a strong connection to tradition and family history: the Testarossa line, which gathers the finest wines, was created to celebrate the beauty of the red-haired women of the Pasetti family. The wines of Pasetti elegantly reflect the Abruzzo territory, historically suited to viticulture. They are expressive, territorial, and not constructed to be perfect because, after all, as Pasetti says, “wine is a life experience, not an exact science.”
