Pasquale Pelissero

The Pelissero family has deep roots in the picturesque village of Neive, as evidenced by the name of its small hamlet, Borgata Pelisseri. The family’s winemaking history began in 1921 when brothers Giovanni and Giuseppe purchased the historic Cascina Crosa from the Conti Cocito. It was Giuseppe’s son, Pasquale, who consecrated the production of Neive. It is said that Pasquale knew the Nebbiolo vineyards better than his own pockets, which is why he had the intuition to bottle the 1971 vintage, allowing for a new maturation of the grapes and giving rise to one of the first quality Barbaresco labels. Today, it is Pasquale’s daughter, Ornella, who continues the tradition of a skilled and proud production, fully expressive of the territory.

The Pasquale Pelissero vineyards extend over about eight hectares around the Cascina Crosa in the small San Giuliano hill. The hilly lands at 400 meters above sea level mainly host Nebbiolo grapes and indigenous varieties such as Dolcetto and Freisa, but also international varieties like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The production philosophy of The winery is well embodied in the meticulous work done in the vineyard, from which Ornella is convinced that great labels are born, then continuing in the winery with traditional aging in large French oak barrels and third-pass barriques, which confer richness and complexity to the Pelissero grapes.

Over the years, Ornella Pelissero has been able to pass down her father's experience and the memory of family traditions, translating them into new proposed labels, living testimony of the passion that runs in the family’s veins. With the entry of Simone, Ornella's son, the Pasquale Pelissero winery is preparing for a new handover under the sign of a clear heritage: a production of authentic quality and a strongly territorial character. The signature of Pasquale Pelissero, just like that of Ornella, has become a guarantee of an authentic journey to discover the evocative landscape of the Langhe, accompanying us sip by sip into the heart of the territory.
