Petruskellerei
Petruskellerei is a parallel project of the family-run winery Rottensteiner, a prominent reality of the Alto Adige territory, which comes to life from the selection and separate vinification of certain batches of grapes that can express peculiar characteristics, always remaining firmly faithful to the varietal and territorial context. The environment is therefore that of the province of Bolzano, composed of perpetually snow-capped peaks and enchanting paths that wind through the green mountains in a territory where tradition and pride are breathed.
The hectares of vineyards available to the Alto Adige reality of Petruskellerei are 7, planted on clay, gravel, and limestone soils and dedicated to the grape varieties Lagrein, Schiava, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc for red grapes, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Bianco, Müller-Thurgau, Moscato Giallo, and Pinot Grigio among the varieties destined for white wines. The rows are located on steep slopes at altitudes reaching up to 400 meters above sea level, also benefiting from an excellent exposure to the southwest. The climatic influence is also fundamental, with low temperatures and significant temperature variations between day and night that allow for the production of very fresh and fragrant wines. The harvest is done by hand in crates and is accompanied by a careful selection of the bunches, which are then immediately transferred to the winery where the fermentations take place at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. For the subsequent aging phase, stainless steel tanks are always used, except for some reds that mature in oak barrels instead.
The production signed by Petruskellerei from Weingut Hans Rottensteiner includes bottles of high accessibility that express the alpine essence of Südtirol, whether they are agile and mineral white wines or juicy and intensely fruity reds, passing through rosés and fine dessert wines.
