Podere Forte

Podere Forte is a winery born from the great passion for viticulture of Pasquale Forte. Originally from Calabria, he moved with his family to Lombardy where he studied and started his own business. However, the great love for the land always remains latent, until he decides to realize his dream by purchasing an estate in Tuscany, specifically near Castiglione d'Orcia, in the province of Siena. The underlying idea is to create an original and unconventional project, inspired by craft viticulture, which can recover an authentic relationship with nature and be conducted in full and perfect harmony with the surrounding environmental ecosystem, made up of the beautiful and unspoiled Tuscan countryside.

The estate has been designed to be self-sufficient, a small agricultural microcosm inspired by the farms of ancient Rome. The cultivation of the vine and the production of wine take place within a virtuous context. The fertilizers used in the fields and the compost are produced on-site with the prunings from the winter pruning and the wood from the estate's forests.winter pruning and the wood from the estate's forests. The Cinta Senese pigs roam freely and feed on acorns and chestnuts from the woods, while the presence of beehives allows bees to play the important role of pollinating flowers and herbs in the botanical garden. The pollen from the crops promotes the development of natural antagonists to the yellow spider mite, which is particularly harmful to the vineyard.

The fields are worked using traditional methods of ancient agriculture, harking back to centuries past when chemistry did not yet exist and had not made its way into the countryside, leaving the lands virgin, rich in natural vitality and biodiversity. The agronomic management of the vineyards follows the rules of Rudolf Steiner's biodynamics with the aim of creating a sustainable ecosystem in natural balance. Naturally, the same philosophy is applied in the cellar, with simple winemaking processes using only indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention. The result of this meticulous artisanal work is a range of wines with a straightforward and authentic character, a true expression of the generous Tuscan land.
