Podere il Saliceto

Podere il Saliceto is one of the most interesting artisanal producers of Lambrusco. The winery is located in the Modena plain, just a few steps from the Secchia river, and was founded in 2004 by Gian Paolo Isabella and Marcello Righi, who did not come from a family of winemakers but fell in love with the craft over the years and managed to set up the business from scratch.

The vineyard of Podere il Saliceto covers 4.5 hectares and sees the cultivation of native varieties with the aim of in its uniqueness: mainly Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Salamino, but also Trebbiano Modenese and Malbo Gentile. The vines are trained using guyot or spurred cordon and are divided into two plots: one located in Saliceto Buzzalino, where the soils are predominantly sandy, and the other in Albone, where the soils are more compact and rich in clay.

All vineyard activities are carried out manually and the winemaking phases are personally overseen by Gian Paolo and Marcello. The focus is on low yields and high planting density, in order to ensure excellent quality grapes. The production philosophy aims to obtain a genuine wine that respects tradition. For this reason, the winery essentially aims for the quality of the fruit and uses technology solely to enhance the qualities of the wine produced. The wines of Podere il Saliceto are characterized by the same stylistic trait, namely a wonderful sapidity that makes them perfectly suitable for pairing at the table.
