Prunelle de Navacelle

Prunelle de Navacelle is a French winemaker who with audacity and genuineness interprets the territory of Beaujolais. In particular, the vineyards of the winery are located between the cru of Regnié and the wine-growing area of Beaujolais-Lantignié, situated on the western border of the crus of Morgon and Regnié. This area, recognized as an independent territory since 1930 due to its strong viticultural vocation, has long produced wines labeled as "simple" Beaujolais-Villages, but thanks to realities like that of Prunelle, the area is gradually emerging. The Domaine is also part of the association Vignerons & Terroirs de Lantignié, created to enhance the territory with its tradition. Prunelle, whose maiden name is Perroud, took over in 2017 the long winemaking tradition of the family, winemakers since 1482 at Château du Basty, after various experiences in the hospitality and restaurant sector between London and Berlin. In 2014, her meeting with her husband, passionate about agro-ecology, allowed her to study and select grasses and legumes based on the benefits they can bring to the vine.

The vineyard area owned by Prunelle de Navacelle is exclusively reserved for Gamay, the principal variety of the territory. The vines are very old and are mainly rooted in granitic soils, with the presence of volcanic silica in some sub-zones. The agronomic management embraced by Prunelle is based on biodynamics and regenerative viticulture while the oenological approach is minimalist and experimental, aimed at excluding the contribution of external inputs. In this perspective, the fermentations occur with whole clusters with brief carbonic macerations in different types of wine containers. There is also no fixed rule for aging, and this can take place in stainless steel tanks, cement vats, or oak barrels.

The production of Prunelle de Navacelle is very limited and consists of authentic and sincere expressions of the territory of Beaujolais-Lantignié, also endowed with a personal touch

given by the winemaker.
