Renoir Adrien
The Maison Adrien Renoir is located in the Grand Cru of Verzy, in the Montagne de Reims area. It is the classic family reality, which for more generations has been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine and the production of the most famous wine in the world. The generational change, with the arrival of the young Adrien, fresh from studies in oenology, has given new impetus to the Maison. Since 2015, the use of any chemical substance has been abandoned and the estate has been converted to organic farming with the use of biodynamic practices as well. A change that has allowed the cultivation of the vineyards in harmony with the surrounding environment and to obtain genuine and healthy grapes, the basis of Champagnes increasingly oriented to directly express the characteristics of the great terroir of Verzy.
The Grand Cru of Verzy is located in the eastern part of the Montagne de Reims, between the famous villages of Verzenay and Trépail, in an area always very suited for the production of great Pinot Noir and intense, rich Chardonnay. The domaine extends over an area of about 5 hectares that, ascustomary, are divided into many small parcels, each with different exposure characteristics, microclimate, and soils. Each vineyard is harvested and vinified separately, in order to enhance their differences and specific peculiarities. The parcel management of the domaine allows for a wide range of vins clairs to choose from when creating the cuvées, so that harmonious and perfectly balanced blends can be proposed each year.
In the cellar, very gentle pressings and spontaneous fermentations are practiced using only indigenous yeasts, precisely to try to bind the wine indissolubly and sincerely to the place of production of the grapes. The Champagnes of Adrien Renoir are the clear and faithful expression of an exceptional terroir and the talent of one of the most interesting young vignerons in the Montagne de Reims landscape. In his cuvées, Pinot Noir always plays a leading role, both when it is proposed in purity in excellent Blanc de Noirs, and when it participates in blends with Chardonnay.
