Ricossa

The Ricossa winery is located in the countryside of Castel Boglione, in the province of Asti, in an area of Piemonte that has always been suited for viticulture, thanks to splendid hilly exposures, a mild and breezy climate, and soils very suitable for vine cultivation, which for centuries has shaped the landscape of these lands and constitutes their main agricultural and economic resource. It is no coincidence that in 2014, the territory of Langhe Roero and Monferrato was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list for its historical and cultural value related to the world of wine. The Ricossa family has been present in these lands since the late 19th century, where they managed a distillery, taking advantage of the great availability of excellent quality pomace from the fermentations carried out in local wineries.

Over time, the company’s activity has shifted from the distillation sector to the production of quality wines, thanks to the acquisition of dedicated estates and careful management of the vineyards and winemaking practices.winery. The estate is located in the area of Castel Boglione, between Nizza Monferrato and Acqui Terme, and spans a complex surface of 80 hectares, 74 of which are dedicated to viticulture. The vineyards are situated in a splendid hilly area. The zone is considered among the best, as it occupies the part located on the southern side of the valley, characterized by sunny exposures, which ensure excellent grape ripening. The soils are predominantly composed of yellow sands, typical of the Asti area, made up of calcareous-clay marls of ancient marine origin, with an abundant presence of silt, sand, and mineral substances.

Always committed to enhancing the best excellences of the territory, the winery has focused on grape varieties historically present in the area, in particular: Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Albarossa, Cortese, and Arneis. Attention to vineyard management ensures high-quality grapes, which are the foundation of the entire production. The vinifications are carried out traditionally, with great attention to preserving the varietal characteristics of the grapes. The wines are elegant, intense, refined, a perfect expression of a great terroir.
