Rosmarinus
Rosmarinus is a family-run estate that produces artisanal wines and olive oil in the heart of the Western Ligurian Riviera. The company was established in 2009 and is located in Località Trume di Perinaldo, near the village of Dolceacqua. The name of the estate comes from the cultivation and marketing of aromatic herbs, particularly rosemary and lavender, which was later replaced by viticulture. The agronomic management has always been inspired by sustainability and respect for nature, with the rigorous application of biodynamic practices. The area is located a few kilometers from the French border and has always been very suited for grape cultivation, thanks to particular pedoclimatic conditions. The vineyards are located in the hilly inland, occupying the thin strip of land between the coast and the first hills that rise towards the mountain range of the Ligurian Alps.
The vines are situated at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level and are characterized by the presence of typical terraceswith dry stone walls, which require manual labor and harvesting. The rows are surrounded by olive groves and a lush Mediterranean scrub, rich in biodiversity. The area enjoys mild temperatures, good ventilation, accompanied by significant temperature variations between night and day. The sunny south-facing exposures favor excellent ripening of the grapes, which arrive at harvest with intense aromas. The typical grape variety of this territory is Rossese, a red grape known in France as Tibouren and mainly cultivated within the Appellation Côtes de Provence. It is an ancient grape variety, possibly introduced in Provence by the Phoenicians and Greeks, or planted in these lands during Roman colonization.
The Rosmarinus estate is characterized by the presence of calcareous soils, with marls and shales. The soils are kept fertile using humus obtained from composting pruning waste, manure, pomace, and stems. Between the rows, legumes and grasses are sown, which are then chopped and buried. For
