Rovellotti

The Rovellotti winery is located in the countryside of Alto Piemonte and represents one of the highest expressions of quality in local production: it has indeed received several awards and recognitions. It was founded by Antonello and Paolo Rovellotti in 1972 in the heart of the ancient Ricetto di Ghemme, a fortified medieval district that once supplied wine to the Court of the Sforza.

The vineyard covers 25 hectares and develops on the first morainic hill of Ghemme in the subzone Baraggiole. The Rovellotti winery is firmly anchored to the viticultural traditions of the area, but with some openness: the vineyards where the most work is concentrated are Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Uva Rara, and Erbaluce, but there are also experiments with allochthonous varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot, and Pinot Nero. The soil where the vines grow is rich in red clays with acidic pH and therefore ensures excellent grape development. Moreover, chemical treatments are reduced to the essential, in a perspective of sincere respect for the environment.

The family Rovellotti carries out its activity as winemakers according to the rules and techniques handed down from a 600-year-long tradition that sees technological innovation as a solid continuity. The most important reds, such as Ghemme Chioso dei Pomi, are aged for a long time in oak barrels in the historic cellars within the Castle. All Rovellotti wines share great clarity and cleanliness, personality, and typicity; they are wines capable of evoking emotions.
