Santa Tresa

Santa Tresa takes its name from the district where the company is located and is also the dialect abbreviation of Santa Teresa, one of the most famous religious figures in Sicily. The winery is located in the Municipality of Vittoria, in the southwest of Sicily, at 240 meters above sea level, in the heart of the DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria. In 2002, Stefano and Marina Girelli, joining their forces, took over the historic estate of Santa Tresa, committing to restore it to its former glory. Today, the estate covers 50 hectares, of which 39 are vineyards, located in a plain enclosed to the north by the Dirillo River, to the east by the Iblei Mountains, and to the southwest open to the sea.

The slightly undulating land is characterized by a layer of red sandy soil resting on a clay base. The first layer is therefore cool, loose, and rich in minerals, while the second is rich in organic matter with excellent water retention capacity. Irrigation is carried out only as a “rescue” when the water stress is such as to put the plant at risk.the survival of the plant, through an underground irrigation system. In this way, water is used to the fullest, avoiding losses due to runoff or evaporation. Every human intervention must be careful and proportionate to the delicacy of the balances that link the great personality of the grape to the uniqueness of the territory. The constant commitment is to preserve and respect an exceptional biological and organoleptic heritage. It is about knowing how to follow nature, knowing how to enhance its qualities, interacting with it and intervening only where it cannot do for itself. At Santa Tresa, only organic farming is practiced, which is not just a way to respect nature, but also the pleasure of living in harmony with it.

united by a note of sapidity, while the reds present fresh and long tannins. The wines of Santa Tresa, in addition to having stunning labels depicting historical moments of Sicily, each have their own style and story to tell, but all represent the most beautiful and pure expression of the Sicilian land.
