Sassetti Livio Pertimali
The Sassetti Pertimali winery has been producing wine in Montalcino for three generations and represents a historic brand of the territory, known for labels with a classic and elegant profile. The estate is located in a particularly prized area of the Montalcino territory, in the north-east area of the famous hill, in the Montosoli locality. It is a true cru, always known for expressing wines characterized by a great balance between aromatic richness, complexity, and lively freshness. The wines are the result of a deep knowledge of the territory, a long tradition and experience, which can count on excellent quality raw materials, vinified to enhance their best characteristics.
The Pertimali estate is located within the wonderful natural context of the Montalcino territory. The hill on which the ancient medieval village stands is a place of particular value for its pedoclimatic characteristics. The soils are the result of sedimentation from different geological eras and are quite heterogeneous. In the lower area of the hill, they are found on rather loose soils, while as one ascends, the lands become richer in skeleton, with abundant presence of galestro, alberese and tuff, on a calcareous-clay matrix. Poor and lean soils, particularly suitable for Sangiovese. The continental climate, cool and sunny, is mitigated by currents coming from the sea and protected from disturbances by the presence of Monte Amiata.
The estate extends over an area of 16 hectares, with a sunny exposure facing southeast. The vines were planted with material that comes from a mass selection of the best plants of old vines present on the estate, in order to preserve a great expressive typicity. The company was among the founders of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino and still today expresses one of the best excellences of the Montosoli area. Within the walls of the cellar, a rich heritage of old vintages is preserved, which constitutes a true family treasure. The wines of Sassetti Pertimali represent the continuity of a long tradition, the authentic face of a great terroir.
