Siddùra
Literally “saddle”, the winery Siddùra, at the foot of the medieval village of Luogosanto, is located in the northeast of Sardinia near the renowned Costa Smeralda. It is in this corner of Gallura that the tradition of Sardinian winemaking culture is renewed. Founded in 2008, it tells the story of the friendship between two entrepreneurs from very different sectors, united by their passion for wine and Sardinia. The two partners decided to transform an abandoned but enchanting property into a lush winery immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, dedicating themselves to a deep and constant search for quality, perfection, and harmony.
The vineyard of Siddùra covers 40 hectares, cultivated on soils composed of a mix of granite, sand, and clay. The good temperature excursions, the breezy climate, and the excellent sunlight of the hills preserve and enhance the peculiar characteristics of the grapes. Siddùra is attentive to the sustainability of production: in the vineyard, treatments are limited and targeted, many operations are carried out manually, and the practiced the greening between the rows with the dual aim of limiting soil erosion and improving its structure. The cultivated grape varieties are Vermentino, Cannonau, Cangulari, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese.
The modern winery, perfectly underground, sees spontaneous fermentations and aging in concrete tanks and French oak barrels. The close bond of the winery with the territory is also emphasized by the great attention given to the choice of wine names, which are inspired by Sardinian or Etruscan words. The Vermentino di Gallura is called Spèra, which in Gallurese dialect means “bundle of light”; the Vermentino Superiore di Gallura, Maìa meaning “magic” and the Cannonau Fòla, “fairy tale”. All Siddùra wines are characterized by purity and elegance and by a clear and impeccable style that makes them loved not only in Italy but also abroad. Evidence of their quality is the excellent reviews from national and international critics and 400 awards won worldwide
