Tenuta di Corte Giacobbe - Dal Cero
The Tenuta di Corte Giacobbe is one of the estates of the Venetian Dal Cero family. The origins of the estate date back to 1934, when Augusto Dal Cero purchased land with the presence of the two extinct volcanoes Crocetta and Calvarina in the municipality of Roncà. The area is characterized by soils of ancient volcanic origin, composed of black lava of basaltic nature and tuff, the result of flows cooled in contact with seawater, which in the Miocene, about 40 million years ago, surrounded the Soave area. After plowing the land of the higher parts of the hills, Augusto Dal Cero planted the first vineyards. At the end of the Second World War, the work in the fields was completed and the first nucleus of the estate was born, which still today represents the heart and historical memory of the property.
Since the early '80s, it has been the sons Dario and Giuseppe who have carried on the project, expanding the estate of Roncà with the acquisition of other lands. The property is located in the border area between Verona and Vicenza, in the territory of the denominations Soave and Lessini Durello. The vineyards rise to the summit of the two ancient volcanic cones Crocetta and Calvarina, with terraces supported by dry stone walls, surrounded by wooded areas that promote biodiversity. In addition to the suitable lands, the area also benefits from an ideal climate for viticulture. Sunny days that are always well-ventilated alternate with cool nights, ensuring good temperature variations. The grapes are thus able to develop very rich and intense aromas, essential for producing great wines.
As for the grape varieties, those that have always been present in these lands have been chosen: Garganega and Durella, to which the international Pinot Grigio and Pinot Nero have been added, which have adapted very well to the local pedoclimatic conditions. In the winery, simple and traditional winemaking processes are used, with the aim of guiding the musts towards transformation into wine in the most natural way possible. The choice of a light enology allows for the enhancement of the varietal typicity of the individual grapes and above all to highlightthe volcanic character of the soils of Roncà, which translates into savory and mineral tasting sensations of great finesse and elegance. Thanks to the perfect synthesis of grape varieties and terroir, even the whites turn out to be particularly long-lived and capable of evolving, enriching themselves with notes of flint and hydrocarbons.
