Tenuta di Ghizzano

The Venerosi family arrived in Ghizzano at the end of the 14th century, decided to purchase the various farms that today make up the company structure, and began producing oil and wine. For many centuries, the estate produced wines in the wake of tradition, maintaining a solid and secure quality, without ever daring, without ever attempting to push the obstacle higher. It was with Pierfrancesco in the 1980s that the company made a qualitative leap: he, going against the tide, decided to invest in the vineyard and the cellar to try to produce a unique wine, capable of facing the market and raising the name of Tenuta di Ghizzano high.

Thus, in 1985, Veneroso was born, the first wine of the estate, named after the ancestor Veneroso Venerosi who first gave soul and body to the countryside and the estate. Today, the estate has made giant strides and boasts 350 hectares of property, of which 20 are vineyards, 20 are olive groves, 150 are cereal crops, and the remaining are woods and poplar groves. Since 2003, the principles of organic farming have been followed, while since 2006, biodynamic agriculture has been adopted.

begun to adopt biodynamic agriculture.

This splendid reality of the Colline Pisane is confidently led by Ginevra Venerosi, who has managed to give a unique imprint to this winery. The basic scheme of winemaking involves full ripeness of the fruit, a calibrated tannin extraction, and adequate maturation in small wooden barrels. All surrounded by a strong natural push, due to the conversions to organic and biodynamic that have characterized the company's choices in recent years. A great winery that has managed to reconcile ecological choices with a very personal territorial style.
