Tenuta di Nozzole
Historic estate located in Chianti Classico, in the area of Passo dei Pecorai, in the municipality of Greve in Chianti (province of Florence). It was purchased by the Folonari family in 1971. It covers an area of 385 hectares, of which 90 are cultivated with vineyards. The estate dates back to the year 1300 and has always been famous for the quality of its wine; the first mention of the Fattoria di Nozzole was found in the Florentine chronicles of Villani, the author of stories about Tuscany. In addition to "Pareto", a classic among the Supertuscans, the vineyards produce Chianti Classico "Nozzole", Chianti Classico "Villa Nozzole", Chianti Classico Riserva "La Forra", Chardonnay "Le Bruniche", and a prestigious Vinsanto di Chianti Classico.
The 90 hectares of vineyards are predominantly Sangiovese, and each year 3% of the vines are replanted. From the oldest vineyard, which is forty years old, Chianti Classico Riserva is produced. The Tenuta di Nozzole has been synonymous with quality and reliability in the now overly exploited territory of Greve in Chianti since the year of its first commercialization; a winery that manages to bring to life some truly remarkable and unique oenological pearls, authentic expressions of their terroir of origin.
