Tenuta Mara

The Biodynamic Estate Mara was founded in 2000 by entrepreneur Giordano Emendatori to make his passion for wine a reality, designing and building the estate named after his wife Mara. The 7 hectares of vineyard were planted in 2005 and are dedicated to a single grape variety, Sangiovese, which is the grape most likely to produce quality in the Rimini area, specifically around the village of San Clemente. The agriculture practiced by the estate's winemakers among the rows follows the principles of natural agriculture, used to best enhance the territorial identity, leading to the processing in the cellar of healthy and well-ripened grapes. In addition to the music played in the vineyards to entertain guests visiting the cellar, among the rows of Tenuta Mara, it is possible to hear the chirping of numerous birds that play a crucial role in preserving ecological balance, thus supporting the foundations of biodynamic agriculture.

The cellar of the Biodynamic Estate Mara is carefully designed to obtain different rooms with corresponding lights and temperatures, resulting from the sole structural realization and without the use of artificial air conditioning. Here, the most interesting rooms are divided by functionality: the fermentation room, which contains six concrete tanks, each decorated by a different artist at Giordano's request; the aging cellar, where the biodynamic wine MaraMia rests for twelve months, and finally the barrel room, finely decorated in Byzantine style, where the expressions of Romagna Sangiovese mature before entering the market.

At Tenuta Mara, wine is processed according to nature: thus, in the cellar, just like in the vineyard, there is no use of synthetic products or chemical shortcuts. The wines do not undergo filtration to avoid impoverishing their structure obtained only from a light pressing and without excessive squeezing. The fermentations are all carried out by indigenous and spontaneous yeasts and even the use of sulfites is kept to a minimum. Through these principles, Tenuta Mara is positioned among the realities that aim to produce a wine respectful of nature in a unique environment.
