Tenuta Santa Lucia

Tenuta Santa Lucia is an interesting reality that cultivates vineyards and produces wines in the area of Mercato Saraceno, in the deep Romagna hinterland, in the hilly Pre-Appennine area between Cusercoli and San Marino. The estate was born in the late 1960s as a classic farm dedicated to the production of cereals, fruit, milk, meat, and wine. At the time, it followed the old logic of peasant autonomy within a context of a rural economy still far from specialization. Only towards the end of the 1990s did the ownership change face, completely dedicating itself to viticulture, with the intent to enhance a particularly suited territory with remarkable potential.

The company philosophy is based on the realization of wines strongly linked to the territory, a true expression of local traditions. For this reason, the choice of grape varieties has fallen on the grapes that have always been cultivated in these lands: Albana, Sangiovese, Famoso, and Centesimino. The vineyards are located in the Alta Valle di Savio. Currently covering about 24 hectares and are managed according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, in full respect of the environment. A choice made responsibly and convinced, to preserve the vitality of the soils without depleting them and trying to promote and develop the presence of wildlife and wild flora capable of naturally enriching biodiversity, respecting the natural balance. The vine and consequently the wine thus become a way to express the territory directly and authentically.

All the work in the fields is carried out with a single objective: to bring genuine, healthy, ripe, and aromatically rich grapes to maturity. Once in the winery, the grapes are processed simply. The winemaker's task is only to transform a precious raw material into wine with the minimum possible intervention, always trying to preserve the varietal aromas and the clear purity of the sip.  The entire company is managed in an eco-compatible way, using low environmental impact energies, energy-saving practices and attention to all recycling operations of processing waste and refuse, in a perspective of circular economy.
