Terraquilia
Terraquilia is a young winery from Emilia that produces very expressive and characteristic wines by recovering the ancient production methods, linked to traditional farming practices and the cycles of the seasons. It was founded by Romano Mattioli in an unspoiled area of the Modenese Apennines at an altitude of 500 meters, in a context of extreme viticulture that offers a rich biodiversity thanks to the presence of dense wooded areas and the proximity of the Panaro river.
The production philosophy of Terraquilia is based on the traditions of the territory, without resorting to modern technologies: in the vineyard, organic and sustainable agriculture is practiced; in the winery, the best practices of the past are applied, such as natural refermentation in the bottle. In the three estates of the winery, Grechetto, Trebbiano, Traminer Aromatico, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Malbo Gentile, and Sangiovese are cultivated. In the winery, the grapes are pressed with soft presses, and every processing is done 'by gravity', that is, without resorting to any typeof pump.
Terraquilia's bet is to minimize technological interventions and any additives, considered by the producer as an alteration, to ensure the consumer authentic and genuine wines. For this reason, the wines of Terraquilia have a low sulfur content, ranging from 25 to 45 mg/l, which is always indicated on the label. The aromas, scents, and emotions that these wines can evoke can only arise from a profound and uncompromising respect for a tradition of inexhaustible charm.
