Tiberi
Tiberi is a guarantee of Umbrian craftsmanship for four generations. A reality that began in the early 1900s, which today Cesare carries on with the irreplaceable help of his son Piero and grandson Federico. Today, three generations are engaged in the winery to achieve a common result, driven by a shared passion: to revive in every glass the most ancient winemaking tradition. Because in a historical moment like this, governed by the fluid flow of things, there is an increasing need to rediscover solid and lasting anchors. Transferred to the world of wine, this means dusting off the tastes savored by our grandparents, as well as their winemaking know-how. The bottles branded Tiberi help us on this arduous journey back in time. In the Tiberi winery, in fact, the pressing of the grapes still occurs with the old wooden manual press, the fermentations are carried out spontaneously, without the addition of selected yeasts or additives, and bottling takes place without resorting to any type of filtration or clarification.
A Montepetriolo, in the province of Perugia, south of Lake Trasimeno: with the Tiberi family, we discover the most vibrant and genuine countryside of Umbria. Only three hectares of vineyard, with plants at least 40 years old, rising 350 meters above sea level, on hilly soils rich in skeleton, responsible for the perfect drainage of the soil. Thanks to a southwest orientation, the rows enjoy exceptional sunlight exposure, as well as good ventilation, essential for the proper ripening and health of the bunches. Even in the vineyard, agricultural gestures are carried out in full respect for nature, without the use of chemicals, marked only by the slow passage of time and the moon. For generations, the protagonists of the different generations that have followed one another in the Tiberi winery have nobly sided with indigenous grape varieties, Trebbiano and Grechetto, Ciliegiolo and Gamay from Perugino, never resorting to the more renowned and commercially appealing international varieties.
The labels of Tiberi reflect the image of the winemakers who produce them, of their making winemaking that unwaveringly and unperturbedly looks at authentic craftsmanship; they are bottles that speak of the past without melancholy, aware of contributing concretely to bringing it back to life in the present.
