The winery, or rather the "bodega," Tinto Pesquera is located in Spain, in Pesquera de Duero-Valladolid; it is part of the very important "Pesquera" group. The owner, Alejandro Fernandez, can rightly be called a self-made man with his own abilities, firm will, and entrepreneurial spirit. Indeed, he was the son of very small-scale grape growers and, from a young age, he always harbored a great dream: to have his own "bodega" and sell his wine. After trying different paths, in 1972, Alejandro embarked on the adventure of the wine world: in a tiny cellar with an old 16th-century stone press, Alejandro began producing wine from Tempranillo grapes, the "queen of grapes," planted in his small vineyard.
It took ten years for the winery to transform and become one of the leading Spanish wine producers, where Alejandro still preserves the ancient stone press. Over the years, the estate has expanded to its current size: over 200 hectares of land on which the "Rio Padre," or the Duero River, has deposited sand and gravel on a limestone and clay bed over millennia. The continental climate, tempered by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, and the rainfall regime contribute to creating an ideal terroir for grape growing.
The Tempranillo "Crianza" is a full-bodied red wine that, over the years, not only preserves its original characteristics but enhances its nuances and complexity, making it a truly great red wine, well-known and appreciated worldwide.
