Tolaini
Past and present come together with a distinctive style within the Tuscany of Chianti Classico, a magical territory nestled between Florence and Siena. Here, precisely in Castelnuovo Berardenga, a small municipality characterized by an ideal microclimate for viticulture, is the Tolaini winery. A productive reality that stems from the dream nurtured for years by Pierluigi Tolaini: a successful entrepreneur in North America, where he founded one of the main logistics companies, Pierluigi decided to return to Italy after 45 years of work, with the desire to cultivate the land. The area chosen to start this adventure was precisely Tuscany, and Pierluigi purchased the estates of Montebello and San Giovanni, beginning a wine production dedicated to high quality.
Today the winery extends over about 108 hectares of land, of which 50 are dedicated to vine cultivation, predominantly facing south. The terroir of Montebello is characterized by a clayey-loamy subsoil composed of a significant presence of skeleton, while the area of San Giovanni is characterized by a sandy-loamy soil, with a low concentration of skeleton. In both areas, sun, wind, and humidity contribute to creating the optimal climatic conditions for grape growth. Tolaini cultivates and raises the main native and international varieties, where alongside the legendary Sangiovese we also find Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Great attention is paid to the correct water management of the vineyards and to the rigorous selection in the vineyard, where only the best clusters arrive at the winery. Here, each individual plot of land is vinified and aged separately, to respect the typical characteristics of origin. Aging takes place in the modern barrel cellar, where slowly each grape has the time to acquire depth, character, and personality.
The wines signed by Tolaini are all red, and take on different contours and nuances, suitable for satisfying the needs of the finest palates, offering moments of pure happiness at every table. The Picconero Toscana IGT is undoubtedly the flagship of a production that expresses the Tuscan territory with great fidelity and sincerity.
