The Tornatore winery has an ancient history, rooted as far back as 1865 in Castiglione di Sicilia. In 1910 Giuseppe Tornatore, grandfather of the current owner, built a house in contrada Piano Fiera, with 2 hectares of vineyards, which were later joined by an additional 2 hectares in contrada Piano Felci, all facing the northern slope of Etna. The winery stands on land of volcanic origin and enjoys the mild climate favored by the presence of the Nebrodi Mountains. The combination of these two elements with the expertise of the winemakers make the northern slope of Etna an ideal terroir for the production of wines of the highest quality, special and unique.

The Tornatore winery's vineyard covers 46 hectares: it is the largest within the Etna Doc production area, with an altitude ranging from 550 to 700 m above sea level. The system chosen for training is single cordon with 3 or 4 spurs. The vines raised are the native Sicilian varieties provided for in the production regulations for Etna wines, particularly Nerello Mascalese and Nero Cappuccio among the reds; Carricante and Catarratto among the whites. Although there is a great deal of attention to mechanization in the vineyards, the grapes are harvested by hand, as is their selection. Aging takes place in oak barrels located in a completely buried and insulated environment through the use of Etna basalt blocks placed on the walls and floor of the barrel cellar. Renewable energy sources are used sources to operate the winery, with the utmost respect for the surrounding environment.

Tornatore's wines encapsulate all the aromatic fragrance, intensity and expressiveness of Sicily and stand out, in the prestigious panorama of Etna wines, for their excellent value for money.
