Tropfltalhof represents a happy island in the unspoiled nature of Alto Adige. It is a family-run agriturismo, with an estate that has several hectares of vineyard managed in biodynamic farming, respecting the environment and the rich local biodiversity. The project was born from the desire to create a reality in harmony with the natural ecosystem and to combine tourist hospitality, grape cultivation, and wine production. The guiding thread of all the activities that take place within the property is the search for a balance with the surrounding landscape, with the mountains, hills, and lake, which make this corner of Alto Adige unforgettable. A 360° experience that combines the beauty of the Caldaro area with its typical products, made with extreme care and passion.
The estate is located in a beautiful area, on the first hilly slopes that rise towards the peaks of the Mendola massif and near the last outcrops of of the porphyry of Bolzano, in the Caldaro area. The area has always been very suited for viticulture, thanks to particular and very favorable pedoclimatic conditions. The vineyards enjoy, in fact, a splendid and bright exposure to the sun and the presence of the lake basin further helps to mitigate the local microclimate. The area is always very windy, both thanks to the constant breezes from the lake and the cold air currents descending from the mountains. The proximity of the lake and the mountains favors a good temperature excursion between the warm summer days and the cool nights, essential for bringing grapes with very intense aromatic profiles to maturity.
The vineyards are managed according to the principles of certified biodynamic agriculture by Demeter. Only organic products, horn silica, horn manure, preparations, and herbal infusions are used between the rows to help the plants strengthen their energy with the environment and their resilience to oidium, downy mildew, and other vine diseases. The vines, in perfect balance with the environment surrounding, produce few healthy and genuine grapes, perfect for being subjected to very simple vinifications, which take place using only indigenous yeasts and without the use of additives. For vinification and aging, the winery has chosen to use wooden barrels and mainly Spanish amphorae, which welcome the wine in an underground cellar 8 meters deep where temperature and humidity are maintained "naturally" constant. Lovers of authentic flavors, of straightforward, simple, and direct wines, will appreciate the production of the Tropfltalhof estate, which aims to be a true interpreter of the territory and its oldest traditions.
