Val delle Corti

Radda in Chianti, locality Croce, here is the Azienda Agricola Podere Val delle Corti, a small winery in the heart of Chianti, which, due to the love, attention, and meticulous care of the owner, Roberto Bianchi, can be defined as a model company.

The story of this producer begins in 1974, when Giorgio, Roberto's father, supported and ably assisted by his wife Eli, decides to leave the hectic life of Milan, his secure and well-paid job, and the political life that saw him as an active participant, to move to Radda in Chianti and become a wine producer; a bet that is quite difficult to win. The beginnings are very tough because the estate, completely abandoned for years, must be thoroughly regenerated with the cleaning of the land, the uprooting of the overly old vines, their replanting, and the need to practically modernize the cellar from scratch: everything to be redone, in short.

But the passion and tenacity of Giorgio and Eli have prevailed, and when Giorgio dies prematurely in 1999, his son Roberto takes over the management of the company, who is lived for a long time in Germany where he graduated in German literature and where he married Lis. The company cultivates the classic grapes of Chianti: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Merlot in a four-hectare owned vineyard and on two hectares rented, facing East-North-East, at about 450 meters above sea level with a stony soil rich in Galestro plates.

The production of the winery is around 30,000 bottles a year, substantially divided into two types of wine, both based on Sangiovese, the Campino which is a table wine produced with the clusters from the younger vines, which do not yield sufficiently rich grapes to produce Chianti, and therefore, from the older plants, the Chianti Classico, a red absolutely worthy of the name it bears, at the top of the category, and which honors the work and efforts of the Bianchi family.
