Valentin Leflaive

The Maison Valentin Leflaive is a young family-run business located in the Côte des Blancs region, producing high-end Champagne, a typical expression of an extraordinary terroir. The gentle sunny exposures and soils made up of exposed gypsum and limestone beds have proven perfect for the cultivation of Chardonnay, which here expresses itself with a connotation of refined elegance and a fresh, savory, and mineral profile. The particular pedoclimatic conditions and the ancient savoir-faire, the result of centuries of history, are expressed in a range of labels that have established themselves among the best excellence of the region in just a few years.

The domaine was created in 2015 by Valentin Leflaive, son of Olivier, one of the most famous producers in Burgundy. The Leflaive family has been present in Côte d’Or since 1580 and has been cultivating vineyards in the renowned area of Puligny-Montrachet for centuries, producing wines of high qualitative level, an expression of a village of absolute excellence. In addition to a deep knowledge of the characteristics of Chardonnay, acquired from the vineyards of Burgundy, Valentin has also been able to rely on the collaboration and valuable advice of Erik De Sousa, one of the most esteemed vignerons of Champagne and a great interpreter of the terroir of Avize and Oger. Starting from these premises, combined with passion and the desire to produce great Champagnes, Maison Valentin Leflaive has managed in just a few years to establish itself among the most interesting new realities of the Côte des Blancs.

In 2020, Valentin Leflaive inaugurated a new winery in Oger as Négociant Manipulant. His production philosophy, in line with the glorious history of his family, is focused on producing great wines without compromise. Vincent brought to Champagne the culture of the parcel approach to grape growing, based on a meticulous care of the plants and separate vinifications, in order to highlight the character of each single vineyard. A Burgundian vision of the domaine, which has allowed for the understanding of all its nuances and translating them into labels of excellent value. Manual harvests, the careful workin the cellar and the desire to always keep the characteristics of the grapes in the foreground, has led him to create Champagnes with an authentic taste, intense, fresh, and mineral.
