Vespa

Vespa Vignaioli per Passione is the name that identifies the winery owned by journalist Bruno Vespa and his sons Alessandro and Federico, located in the historic Masseria Li Reni, amidst the sun-drenched countryside of the Taranto province which includes the municipality of Manduria, a town known throughout Italy for the excellence of its Primitivo. This grape finds in this territory its ideal environment, and it is here that it has historically been cultivated for centuries, sometimes maintaining the traditional "alberello" shape especially for the old vines. The project was born out of the love that Bruno and his sons have for wine, taught to the television journalist by none other than Luigi Veronelli in the 1970s, caring for the men and women who with their craftsmanship bottle the greatest expressions of their terroirs.

The Bruno Vespa winery, founded in 2014, relies on the decades-long knowledge of winemaker Riccardo Cotarella, brother of Renzo, who by his own vocation has always cared for the rediscovery of the ancient grape varieties of the territory. Here in Manduria, clearly, the grape varieties that are processed in the winery are the classics of the Apulian tradition: Negroamaro, located in the geographical areas of Manduria and Lizzano, benefiting from the fresh air currents coming from the Ionian Sea; Primitivo, the King of this land that ripens very early and is capable of offering harmonious, velvety expressions with powerful taste concentration; Fiano, a typical white grape of the area that gives enveloping, intense versions with unexpected freshness.

Bruno Vespa Vignaioli establishes its headquarters within the magnificent estate "Li Reni", located just outside the municipality of Manduria, originally built as the noble residence of the Troiani family in the second half of the sixteenth century. Since 2015, the property has been transferred to the Vespa family, who, by renovating it, have restored it to its ancient splendor, thanks to a series of radical conservation restoration interventions. It is now used as a luxury accommodation facility, where the poetry of the Apulian land is highly perceptible, elevated simply by the Mediterranean aroma and an enveloping glass of Primitivo.
