Villa Schinosa
The history of Villa Schinosa is based on ancient winemaking traditions that have been passed down with passion and dedication for generations. Currently, the reins of the winery have passed to the son and heir Corrado Capece Minutolo who, alongside his father Ferdinando and his experience gained during over fifty harvests, manages every production and commercial aspect of the agricultural company. His mother Maria takes care of the export side of the agricultural products.
The Villa Schinosa winery is located on the outskirts of the city of Trani and extends into the countryside for about 200 hectares, all owned by the Minutolo family in a position that is nothing short of strategic: it is indeed located along the road that connects Castel del Monte to the Cathedral of Trani, a Romanesque masterpiece overlooking the sea. Here, welcomed by a long avenue lined with oaks, one arrives at the entrance of the charming agricultural company that has a well-rooted history: partly excavated in the Trani Stone in 1884, it is adjacent to the ancient and characteristic a farmhouse used as a family residence, which reaches its maximum splendor in the height of summer, during the blooming of bougainvillea. In addition to winemaking, updated by Corrado with the renewal of the vineyards and with technologically advanced equipment, the Capece Minutolo family also owns modern centuries-old olive groves and new plantations for the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oils. Finally, the company’s production is enriched by cherry and almond orchards, all certified organic.
At Villa Schinosa, the tuff and limestone soils nourish the vines that produce the typical varieties of the area: the trellised vineyards, trained in guyot or spurred cordon, find in this particular microclimate the perfect characteristics for optimal ripening and organoleptic quality of the grapes. It is impossible not to mention among the flagship products of the winery the Moscato di Trani, which in this province boasts a millenary tradition, when it was traded around the eleventh century by merchant ships flying the Venetian flag, thanks to which it has been appreciated throughout the Mediterranean for its enveloping and fascinating aromatic qualities.
