VNA

The VNA wines winery is located in the authentically rural area of Oltrepò Pavese, one of the oldest and most interesting wine regions in all of Italy. A surprising variety of exposures and soils have made it a true cradle for the vine, where for more than 150 years the two most noble grape varieties in the world, Pinot Nero and Riesling Renano, have been cultivated, accompanied by various native varieties such as Uva Rara, Bonarda, Barbera, Cortese, and Croatina. VNA knows these landscapes well and understands that from these lands, if treated with care and respect, great wines can be born that reflect the longest enological history of the region. The story of VNA began in 1982 when Uberto Fiori decided to purchase some hectares in the Pavia municipality of Torrazza Coste, a small village that still preserves the most ancient local traditions today. The winery began producing a few bottles, reserving them for friends and relatives. The turning point came in 2015 when the sons Alessandro and Federico took the reins of the company, inaugurating the winemaking production on market.

VNA adopts ancestral and artisanal methods in order to respect and safeguard the spontaneous cycle of nature. Thus, in the vineyard, the respect for the land is realized through the use of organic fertilizers and natural cover crops, prohibiting any form of synthetic chemistry. In the winery, the same approach is continued, limiting invasive processes, such as filtration or clarification, relying solely on the use of native yeasts. On clayey and silty soils, enriched with sands and sandstones, grow the 20-30 year old vines of Cortese, Barbera, Croatina, and Uva Rara, located between 120-130 meters in altitude.

The VNA wines capture the Oltrepò territory without filters, gathering all the moods of the vintage. The beautiful Alsatian bottles depict stylized animals on the label, such as lizards or ants, to further emphasize that intrinsic bond between land and man. The line offers macerated whites (ants) based on Cortese with a wild and rural character, which, at times, can be difficult to interpret, and a Red (lizard) from a mix of local grapes with a rustic, warm, and earthy profile. VNA is an experiential journey through the ancient hills and traditions of Oltrepò.
