Niklas

The Weingut Niklas is a family-run winery located in a place of extraordinary viticultural vocation, between Termeno and Caldaro, near the lake. The excellent location, the breezy climate, and the great passion of the Sölva family are the protagonists of a success story based on high-quality production. Dieter Sölva inherited the estate from his father Josef, who founded it in 1969, and is now assisted by his young son Michael. The winemaking expertise of the family, the result of decades of hard work, and the qualities of the territory of Lake Caldaro have contributed to making this small winery an excellence in the wine scene of Alto Adige, known and appreciated by enthusiasts all over Europe.

Niklaserhof includes the family farm and about 7 hectares of vineyard, divided among the locations Vial, Planitzing, Salt, Kardatsch, Muttergarten, Barleit, Prutznai, and Galgenweise. On the shores of the lake, red grape varieties such as Lagrein, Schiava, and other international varieties grow, while on the cooler foothills of the Mendola, above Caldaro, white grapes are cultivated.the white grapes of Kerner, Pinot Bianco, and Sauvignon. The clayey and limestone soils, born from the erosion of the mountains, give minerality and character to the production. The Sölva family cultivates these beautiful and evocative vineyards with great environmental sensitivity and attention to quality: without fertilization and with only treatments of copper and sulfur.

The wines of the Niklas winery today reflect the style of Dieter Sölva, characterized by tension, minerality, and elegant freshness. His goal is to bring out the varietal characteristics of each grape, enhanced by the territory. In the cellar, respect for tradition does not exclude the use of the most modern and advanced technologies, with controlled fermentations in steel or in large barrels, for the most important labels. The flagship products have always been Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon, and Schiava, but increasing attention is being paid to Kerner, which has shown extraordinary qualities in terms of organoleptic quality and evolutionary potential.evolutionary. In short, these are wines of impeccable craftsmanship and great precision, not lacking in character and personality.
