Wimmer-Czerny

The Wimmer-Czerny winery is an interesting wine-growing reality that has managed to carve out a space in the panorama of Austrian wine thanks to a craft approach and the desire to enhance the characteristics of the territory to the fullest, through the cultivation of the typical grape varieties of the Wagram region, in particular: Gruner Veltliner, Traminer, and Riesling. Wimmer-Czerny is part of that new wave of producers that has contributed to the renewal of the face of Austrian drinking with labels that have caught the attention of enthusiasts and critics. Austria, in fact, although often a bit neglected, is a country with ancient traditions, capable of producing true excellences, especially in the field of whites.

Wimmer-Czerny is located in Fels Am Wagram, in one of the most important areas for Austrian viticulture. The Wagram region is situated in the northwest area of Vienna and is characterized by a hilly terrain, always very suited for viticulture. The cool climate and beautiful sunny exposures are particularly suitable for the cultivation of the white grape varieties originating from Central Europe. The notable temperature excursions between the hottest hours of the day and the cold nights contribute to enriching the grapes with elegant scents and very intense aromas. The soils are predominantly composed of sands and clays. They are very draining, rich in minerals, and rest on deep layers of bedrock.

It is thanks to these privileged pedoclimatic conditions that the winery manages to produce great bottles signed Wimmer-Czerny. The management of the vineyards is carried out with the utmost respect for the natural environment, and all synthetic chemical substances have been banned, following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The goal is to have plants that have reached a natural productive balance and a capacity to resist attacks from pests and fungi without having to exceed in treatments. In this way, healthy grapes are obtained, allowing for the creation of genuine and straightforward expressions that bring the best varietal aromas and the character of the terroir of origin. Today this estate is especially famous for its labels of Gruner Veltliner, Traminer, Riesling, Pinot Bianco, and Zweigelt, the typical red of the region.
