Wold Top
Wold Top Brewery is the British brewery founded by farmers, Tom and Gill Mellor. A family-run business, now managed by the third and fourth generation of the Mellors, founded on the English hills of the Yorkshire Wolds that gently descend towards the North Sea. A glorious and successful story that began in 2003, the year of its foundation, with the production of the first bottle, made in a disused barn, and which today offers a range of beers with all different styles, recognized and awarded by various industry guides. Of course, the road to conquering the markets has been tortuous and anything but easy; it took many years of hard work, experiments, mistakes, falls, and failures. But every time the Mellor family rolled up their sleeves and started over, because, as the producers tell, to grow you must make mistakes and the best inventions were born precisely from failed experiments.
The Wold Top brewery has always focused on traditional methods and recipes to produce the famous Ale beers, using raw materials produced in-house. First, the water, healthy, pure, and crystal clear, filtered with gypsum and drawn directly from the farm well located near the brewery. Next is the barley, an ancient cereal with valuable nutritional properties, grown exclusively in the Wolds and then taken to trusted malting facilities. Then there is the hops of exclusively British origin which, thanks to its bitter notes, gives the appreciated bitterness typical of beers. Finally, not least, there is the hand of the producer, the one who dictates the times and production phases.
In the 35 cultivated acres, there are gypsum meadows and a large quantity of biodiversity that hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna. The Wold Top line presents beers of different styles, produced with artisanal methods and sometimes even with corn mash that allows them to carry the “Gluten Free” label, without using industrial processes to remove gluten. It ranges from dark, amber, and blonde beers, from the styles IPA, Golden Ale, Bitter, and Blanche, all characterized by a great personality and arefreshing and pleasantly smooth drink!
