Zorzettig

Zorzettig is one of the most important and prestigious wineries in the Colli Orientali, the area of Friuli Venezia Giulia bordering Slovenia. The Zorzettig family has been cultivating vineyards on the hills of Spessa for over a century, one of the most vocated areas of our peninsula for the production of great whites. Today the estate is managed by Annalisa Zorzettig, who passionately carries on the best family traditions. The wines are a direct and pure expression of the territory and are made simply, aiming to enhance the exceptional quality characteristics of the grapes.

The area of Colli Orientali enjoys particularly favorable pedoclimatic conditions for vine cultivation. The vineyards are located in sunny hillside exposures and sink their roots into soils composed of flysch, or ponca in Friulano, a sedimentation of calcareous marls and sandstones of ancient marine origin, very rich in minerals. The climate is mild, sheltered by the presence of the Julian Alps from the cold air currents descending from the northeast and open to the south to the temperate breezes rising from the Adriatic Sea. This perfect combination creates an ideal habitat, particularly for white grape varieties.

The estate covers a total area of 115 hectares, divided into several farms, located in the best positions of the territory. Among the rows, the historically present grape varieties in the Colli Orientali are cultivated. Regarding white grapes: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon, Picolit, Malvasia, Riesling, Traminer Aromatico, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay; and for red grapes: Pignolo, Schioppettino, and Refosco. The central core of the company vineyard is located in Spessa, in the locality of Sant'Anna, while the rest of the vineyards are found in Ippis, Prepotto, and Premariacco. In the countryside, principles of sustainable agriculture are followed, attentive to respecting the territory. The harvests take place at full ripeness, with a rigorous selection of the grapes, so as to bring only perfectly healthy bunches to vinification. Soft pressings and careful vinifications that respect the raw materials give fragrant wines, with intense, savory, minerals and with a remarkable aging potential.
