ALTROVINO DUEMANI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Duemani's Altrovino is a persuasive and fascinating Mediterranean wine, as well as a red with class and personality. This label from Duemani winery could be a dedication to the critics of those who cultivate international grape varieties in Italy, accused of producing impersonal and homologated wines, but in reality capable of interpreting certain parts the territory with great finesse and credibility. Duemani was born from common ideas, and from the desire to share a whole project, since Luca and Elena are not only partners in the vineyard but also in everyday life. The setting is the Tuscan Coast, where Elena and Luca cultivate Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot following the rules of biodynamic growth, and bringing out their powerful expressiveness. The idea of Supertuscans, obviously inherent in the logic of the terroir, is however interpreted without useless frills, giving exemplary bottles, capable of virtuously defying time.

Altrovino is made from an equal blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, from vineyards trained on guyot on clay soils. In the vineyard, as mentioned before, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, embracing Steiner biodynamics and using only copper, sulphur and natural preparations. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and maceration at a controlled temperature in cement vats and 8-10 months of ageing in large casks and tonneaux are carried out. The wine is bottled without clarification or filtration.

Altrovino presents itself in the glass with an intense and lively ruby red colour. A nose of great breadth, which immediately brings to mind Mediterranean scrub, ripe plum, black pepper and friggitello, giving back an iridescent and profound profile. The sip is textural, velvety on the palate, satisfying and at the same time refreshing it with balsamic hints and just the right amount of freshness. Sumptuous.
