BOLGHERI ROSSO 'IL SEGGIO' POGGIO AL TESORO 2020 DESCRIPTION

Poggio al Tesoro's Bolgheri Rosso "Il Seggio'" is a red that gives freshness and taste-olfactory intensity right from the first sip. This Bordeaux blend with a modern, Mediterranean profile owes its name to the Seggio river, the major waterway in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci. Since 2003, the historic Allegrini winery has sunk its roots in this area of exceptional value and well-known production potential with the idea of creating labels of strong identity, structure and long evolution.

The "Seggio" Bolgheri Rosso is a classic Bordeaux blend of international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that come from 2 main vineyards owned by Poggio al Tesoro: Via Bolgherese and Le Sondraie. The typical soils of the area gradually change from yellow to brown, have ancient marine origins and are characterized by sands rich in skeleton that perfectly accommodate the Cabernets and mixed clays that give elegance and harmony to the Merlot. The 15-month aging in first- and second-passage barriques, in addition to reducing the natural astringency due to the young tannins, allows this Bolgheri red to take on a greater softness, so as to give an enveloping and silky sip.

Bolgheri "Seggio" is an expressive, full-bodied red that pairs well with first and second courses of red meat. The glass shows a clear and intense ruby red and the nose gives unmistakable notes of Mediterranean scrub, which continuously remind us of the area of origin, ripe red fruit and balsamic herbs. The palate has good structure and texture with an elegant and enveloping tannic texture that leaves a juicy, medium-length and precise finish in the mouth.
