Paltrinieri is a name now absolutely representative of the Modenese territory and an undisputed synonym of high-quality Lambrusco and craftsmanship. The adventure of this family winery began with grandfather Achille, an esteemed pharmaceutical chemist in the town, who back in 1926 followed up on his intuition to start a winemaking business, creating the company that still exists today. The next generation continued in management for more than 40 years, expanding the structure over the years. The current owners are Alberto Paltrinieri and his wife Barbara Galassi, since 1998: the unconventional spirit that animates them has always shown them a path that does not yield to fashions and commercial flattery, but rather is anchored in a territorial vision of production.

Paltrinieri's estates currently extend over an area of 17 hectares, all in a single body, in the prestigious area of Cristo di Sorbara: the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Bomporto has in fact risen over the years to become an original and vocated representative of the finest and most delicate variety of Lambrusco. Lambrusco di Sorbara is a very ancient variety, perhaps one of the rare ones that can truly be called indigenous, originating from the domestication of the wild "vitis labrusca," as mentioned by Pliny the Elder. The widespread phenomenon of millerandage, an anomaly that results in the sterility of some inflorescences and the consequent failure of the berries to develop along the bunch, predisposes to low productivity and contributes to its extreme quality. The vineyard is located in that peculiar territory designed as a thin strip of plain between the course of the Secchia and Panaro rivers, west and east of the city of Modena, respectively. The lack of high ground is compensated by a favorable microclimate and, above all, by a medium-textured soil rich in mineral salts, with a peculiar sandy and silty conformation. Human intervention in the vineyard is reduced to a minimum, abolishing the use of synthetic chemicals in favor of natural integrated pest management and use of organic compost.

The Paltrinieri winery is uniquely dedicated to the production of sparkling wines, a typical and traditional expression of a highly vocated territory. Lambrusco di Sorbara finds expression in bottle-fermented wines and, above all, in the production of Metodo Martinotti of considerable depth, particularly careful and consistent interpretations of the house vineyards. A Metodo Classico, "Il Grosso," also figures alongside perhaps the most representative label, consisting of a long Charmat, "Leclisse."
