The Falesco "Tellus" Syrah is born from the Cotarella family's desire to enhance this international grape variety in the Lazio region. Judging by the profile of this red, the result is fully achieved, which is exalted on the nose with balanced notes that play between freshly picked fruit and spices. The image on the label, created in 2009 for an event held at Castel Sant'Angelo, evokes the world of art in a combination of sectors that has always seen fruitful collaborations. Perfect to drink now, it's a wine that can still rest for a few more years before uncorking.
The "Tellus" Falesco is a pure Syrah from young vineyards, around 15 years old. We find ourselves in a soil composed mainly of sand at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The care of the individual vines, characterized by limited production, allows for a balanced harvest, both in terms of sugar content and phenolic ripeness. After gentle pressing, cold maceration takes place for 4-5 days at a controlled temperature of 18-20 degrees Celsius. The fermentation then continues in stainless steel for 15 days, after which the wine is placed in second-passage barriques for a period of 5 months. Here, malolactic fermentation also takes place.
The red Syrah wine "Tellus" presents itself to the eye with a typically ruby colour, influenced by slight reflections that tend more towards violet at the edge. The nose opens with touches dominated by small wild berries, enriched on the final olfactory examination by more spicy sensations, where a hint of vanilla is perceived. On the palate, it is a captivating, almost silky body with a finely sculpted tannic texture. It closes with an aftertaste reminiscent of citrus. The hand of the legendary Cotarella is felt in this Lazio product, characterized by a decidedly interesting quality-price ratio.
