It was founded in 1971 by Arnaldo Caprai, a successful textile entrepreneur with the dream of changing his life and producing wine, realizing the great potential of a grape variety then unknown to the general public, the Sagrantino. It will be his son Marco, starting in 1988, who will involve great personalities and professionals in the sector to enhance this native grape variety and make the Caprai winery the pride and undisputed protagonist of its land. The great vintage of 1993 represents the peak of all Marco's work and efforts, bringing him into the ranks of the greatest Italian producers.

Here, there are steel tanks for fermentation and many oak barrels for aging: 2,000 French barriques from Allier, Nievre, and Vosges, and 15 large Slavonian oak barrels. The goal of this work is the same as it was thirty years ago: to bet on the great wealth of the tradition of Montefalco, recovering it in a modern key. Technology, expertise, experimentation, and innovation all contribute to the creation of powerful, full-bodied, and long-lived reds, endowed with great personality.
