Thibault Liger-Belair's Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes embodies the feminine and graceful characters of the commune of Chambolle-Musigny in a liquid with a disturbing aromatic spectrum. That of Chambolle-Musigny is an explanatory case, useful in understanding how the value of a vineyard can, especially in Burgundy, intertwine with the history of a place, going so far as to contribute to the choice of its name. Among the communes most prized by those in Burgundy seeking aromatic arabesques and finesse, Chambolle is a place that has attracted the attention of illustrious producers, who, like Thibault, have invested quite a bit to get a few vineyards in this place in God's grace. Thibault's style then, enhances the peculiarities of the place, and his hand manages to extract fruit and floral finesse, condensing them into a sinuous and graceful liquid. Power without weight.
Vieilles Vignes Chambolle Musigny is made from pure Pinot Noir grapes from a selection of old vineyards located in the commune of Chambolle Musigny. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, following the principles of biodynamics and plowing the vines with horses. In the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and aging in barriques, mostly used, of 18 months is continued.
The Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes wine presents itself in the glass with a bright, unburdened ruby robe. Delicate and very fine nose, where floral flutters, notes of wisteria, red currants, and oriental spices follow one another rhythmically. The heady but harmonious aromatic spectrum, finds confirmation in a balanced and very elegant sip, played in subtraction but with an embroidered saline texture. Among the best exponents of its type, which blindly, while not boasting the Premier Cru appellation, routs several.
