Planeta's Chardonnay is a full-bodied and intense wine with good structure, aged for 12 months in barrique. Floral, citrus, mineral and marine tones come together in a soft, velvety sip, dense and enveloping as only a Sicilian Chardonnay can be
Planeta's Chardonnay has become the symbolic wine of the Sicilian wine renaissance. It was born from a challenge, from the desire to create a wine capable of competing with the best whites in the world, holding its own against the great labels made from this grape variety, so noble and widely planted. A project that began in 1985 and is now accomplished, as evidenced by the countless awards and recognitions that, with each vintage, are bestowed on this wine. An extraordinary Sicilian white, in which aromas and flavors encapsulate the grace and power of Sicily.
Planeta's Chardonnay comes to life from the grape variety of the same name, grown within the historic vineyards of Maroccoli and Ulmo, located at an elevation between 250 and 415 meters above sea level. The grapes, carefully selected to ensure only the best of the terroir of origin, are destemmed and softly pressed, then fermented in barriques at a controlled temperature of 18 degrees. Then comes the aging phase, carried out for 12 months in oak barrels, partly new and partly second-passage. Once maturation is complete, the wine is ready to be bottled.
The Planeta-branded Chardonnay white wine announces itself with a particularly intense appearance, recalling the golden hue, crossed by slight greenish reflections. Rich and layered the nose, in which flowers and fruit, declined with different nuances, alternate with more spicy and buttery aromas. Very fascinating on the palate, where, thanks to the full and enveloping structure, it conquers from the first sips, highlighting a savory texture, which makes the long and persistent finish even more pleasant. One of the most excellent labels made by the Planeta winery, which has always been at the top of the main Italian and international wine guides.
