COTE ROTIE 'LA LANDONNE' DOMAINE ROSTAING 2018 DESCRIPTION

Domaine Rostaing's Côte Rôtie "La Landonne" is a French wine produced in the northern Rhone Valley. The winery is considered an artisanal excellence in this area, thanks to the constant attention of René Rostaing first and his son Pierre today, who wisely guides the family business that for the past 70 years has been producing wines of unparalleled quality with an eye always on the future. Several old native grape varieties have been recovered in order to rehabilitate old grapes and enhance the surrounding area.

The vines of Domaine Rostaing's Côte Rôtie "La Landonne" rise in an ancient settlement of Celtic populations later conquered by Julius Caesar, gaining the name of one of the oldest territories suitable for the cultivation of vines. The soil consists mainly of pebbles and sand, resulting from the many floods that occur in the area, and the climate is influenced by the presence of the Mediterranean Sea, which mitigates temperatures, making them ideal for full ripening of the grapes. The vineyards are located about 300 meters above sea level and are on steep slopes, a condition that forces completely manual processing, from care to harvest. The grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation and malolactic in the cellar through the action of indigenous yeasts, and no filtration is carried out during bottling. It is aged 12 months in oak barrels.

Domaine Rostaing's Côte Rôtie "La Landonne" presents itself in the glass as an intense cherry red with purplish hues. The nose releases hints of licorice, blueberry, plum and raspberry with a final note of underbrush; its rich and full structure emerges in the mouth, with persistent and complex tannins, but well integrated for excellent drinking. In pairing it expresses itself best with grilled and stewed red meat, game and first courses with great condiments. To be considered the wine of great occasions, whether for business gatherings with important guests, anniversaries or special family events, it's a product with genuine and authentic flavors that knows how to please the most demanding palates.
