The result of heroic viticulture, it is made from a blend of local red grapes, including Piedirosso, Aglianico and Sciascinoso, and aged only in steel. It expresses a fragrant and delicate aromatic set of fresh red fruits, wild flowers and light country sensations. On the palate it is fresh and light, with a pleasant foam and a light smoky note. GRAGNANO ROSSO CANTINE ASTRONI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Cantine Astroni's Gragnano Rosso is the most popular wine of the Sorrento Peninsula. It is a sparkling red made from a blend of the local indigenous grapes, which have been in Campania for centuries. The estate is located in a historical area of great interest, right on the slopes of an ancient crater within the Astroni Park in the beautiful Campi Flegrei area. It is here that this young and lively, fresh and fruity wine sees the light of day. Its jovial and carefree character makes it an ideal companion for any occasion.

Rosso di Gragnano was born in a land of choice for wine from Campania, rich in tradition. Cantine Astroni produces this excellence from a selection of Piedirosso, Aglianico, Sciascinoso and other local varieties historically present in the area, which comes from vineyards cultivated on the steep slopes of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The vines are trained to the low pergola system on soils of predominantly sandy composition and enjoy a particularly favourable climate, very sunny and always ventilated, thanks to the mild sea breezes. The grapes are harvested by hand from the best bunches during the first weeks of October. The grapes undergo cold pre-fermentative maceration for a few days and then undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C. The wine is then transferred into autoclaves for frothing and second fermentation using the Martinotti or Charmat Method, which gives the typical sparkling vivacity to Gragnano. After a few months of bottle ageing, the wine is ready for sale.

Cantine Astroni's Gragnano Rosso wine is a bottle with a convivial face. Simple and lively, it offers the immediate pleasure of crisp and juicy fruit. In the glass is dark ruby red in colour with youthful violet hues and a light, fluffy pink mousse due to the light effervescence. Exuberant and rich, it expresses on the nose fragrant aromas of small red berries, cherry, currant, raspberry, morello cherry, floral nuances of iris and violet and hints of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis. Soft and enveloping, it has very ripe and expressive fruit, fine and delicate tannins and a harmonious, fresh and lively finish. To best appreciate its fruity qualities, we recommend tasting it slightly chilled at a temperature of 10-12 degrees.

Notes of wild berries, floral fragrances, hints of Mediterranean scrub and memories of the countryside
