The White Blend by the Slovenian winery Mlecnik is a artisanal white wine made with a predominant part of Chardonnay and the remaining part of Malvasija and Tokaj Friulano. It is fermented with indigenous yeasts with maceration on the skins for 3 days, then aged in oak barrels for 24 months and in bottle for another 3 years. A mineral and dynamic sip, accompanied by herbaceous notes of thyme, hints of wild flowers and light citrus aromas
Mlecnik Blend represents a white wine that is appreciated for its balance and pleasantness. The winemaking spirit that guides the Mlecnik winery is authentically artisanal, with sustainable agronomic operations and minimal, never invasive oenological interventions. Thus, genuine and refined wines take shape, reflecting the vocated territory of Vipavska Dolina. The White Blend, also called No Name as it lacks a real name, was created to replace the 'Cuvée Ana,' a label that was not made due to the frost and hail that compromised production.
The Mlecnik Blend originates from predominantly Chardonnay grapes, blended with 10% Malvasija and Tocai Friulano, also called Sauvignonasse. The vines are grown organically certified on soils rich in marl, clay and karst rocks, located between 50 and 100 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation associated with 4 days of maceration on the skins. Subsequently, the mass is transferred to oak barrels where it remains to mature for 24 months, after which the wine is bottled and undergoes an additional 3 years of aging in glass. Throughout the winemaking process, the liquid is not clarified and filtered.
Mlecnik's Bianco Blend macerated white wine is amber yellow in color. The aromatic range unfolds on herbaceous hints of thyme and citrus aromas, followed by pleasant floral and iodine sensations. Remarkable balance on the palate, where smoothness, savoriness and freshness coexist in harmony, a prelude to the long mineral finish. This is an orange wine of rare dynamism, that can be paired with many different fish preparations.
