Melanie Pfister's Blanc 'Deux Cepages' is a tribute to Alsace, a white wine made from lesser-used local varieties representing the two souls of the region: Pinot Blanc, the delicate one, with its floral aromas, and Auxerrois, the harder one, with its spiciness and freshness. The nose is dominated by fruit and white flowers, then mineral, almost iodine-like hints are perceived. On the palate, it is very fresh, balanced with a pleasant typical fatness, and with great aromatic persistence
Melanie Pfister's Blanc "Deux Cépages" is produced in Alsace, specifically in the small village of Dahlenheim, a few kilometers away from Strasbourg. Melanie is the eighth generation of the Pfister family, which has been cultivating these lands, which have been devoted to wine production since the Middle Ages, since 1780: having completed her studies in oenology and agricultural engineering in Burgundy, she decided to return home to run the family business in order to carry on the lessons handed down and bring them into the future. Melanie is, in addition, part of the association "Les DiVINes d'Alsace," which brings together women winemakers from the area.
The vineyards of Melanie Pfister's Blanc "Deux Cépages" extend over about 9 hectares fully planted with vines and are entirely cultivated following the dictates of organic farming; since 2021, it has also been decided to go along with the dictates of biodynamic agriculture, in total respect for the growth and development phases of the plants and in the banning of all synthetic chemicals, in favor of natural decoctions prepared from spontaneous herbs of the area. The soil is mainly composed of limestone for wines with a structured character. The harvest is conducted manually; in the cellar, spontaneous alcoholic fermentations occur in steel, where it is subsequently aged for 11 months.
To the eye, Melanie Pfister's Blanc "Deux Cépages" is straw yellow with bright golden highlights; the aromas released on the nose are reminiscent of ripe white-fleshed fruits, white summer flowers and mineral notes on the finish. On the palate it is enveloping, aromatic and with a good final sapidity for an interesting and continuous drink. It is recommended to be paired with sushi and sashimi dishes, raw fish tartare, smoked salmon; also interesting with fresh cheeses and mixed cold cuts. An ambassador wine of a territory with great potential, characterized by genuine and authentic flavors to share with lifelong friends.
